A textíliák nagy része műanyagból, pontosabban poliészterből áll, melyet kőolajból és földgázból állítanak elő. Készítése során nagy mennyiségű szén-dioxid keletkezik, ami káros hatást gyakorol környezetünkre. Napjainkban a nagyüzemi gyártás jellemző, amely a 20. és 21. században történő fejlesztéseknek, gépesítésnek köszönhető. A boltokban találkozhatunk újrahasznosított ruhákkal, amik az általunk termelt hulladékból és a tengerekben felgyülemlő műanyagból készülnek. Turkálókban, garázsvásárokon szerzett ruhákkal, újrahasznosított ruhák vásárlásával környezettudatos tagjai lehetünk társadalmunknak. Most textiles consist of plastic, or more precisely polyester, which is made from oil and gas. While it is being produced, it emits large amounts of carbon dioxide. This has a detrimental effect on our environment. Nowadays, large-scale production is characteristic, which is due to the development and mechanization of the 20th and 21st Centuries. We can find recycled clothes in the shops, which are made from the waste we produce and the plastic that accumulates in the seas. We can be environmentally conscious members of our society by buying clothes from charity shops, garage sales and recycled clothes.
